What You Can (and Can’t) Sell on Artrepreneur

Artrepreneur maintains clear guidelines on what can and cannot be listed for sale to ensure quality, authenticity, and compliance with industry standards. Below is a detailed breakdown of the items permitted and prohibited on our platform.

What Can Be Listed for Sale

Physical works of art or design created by the seller. Downloadable digital images and NFTs are not permitted for sale.

Limited editions must be part of a numbered series of 50 or fewer and must include a Certificate of Authenticity to validate the edition.

Open editions are non-numbered reproductions of an artist's work. While there is no limit on the number of copies that can be sold, open editions must be clearly identified as such to ensure transparency with buyers.

What Cannot Be Listed for Sale

Public domain works, as they are freely available for public use and lack exclusive rights for resale.

AI-generated artwork that is created solely by artificial intelligence without meaningful human contribution.

Secondary resales are not allowed for individual sellers. However, organizations such as galleries or other authorized representatives with the legal rights to sell the artwork may do so.

Supplies, such as yarn, beads, canvas, paints, books, patterns, tools, or other materials used to create art, are not eligible for sale.

Services of any kind, including design services, custom commissions, or freelance artistic work, are not allowed as Artrepreneur only facilitates the sale of physical art.

Mass-produced or commercially crafted works that are not original or handmade by the artist are prohibited. However, works produced through processes like digital printing or metal casting using handmade molds are allowed if they are limited to editions of 50 or fewer.

Non-visual-artist works, such as real estate, automobiles, motorcycles, boats, and other non-artistic items, may not be listed.

Digital-only items, such as digital downloads, files, and other purely digital content, are not eligible for sale.

Legally prohibited items, including but not limited to alcohol, tobacco, drugs, firearms, weapons, and other restricted goods, may not be listed for sale under any circumstances.

Ownership and Legal Requirements

To list artwork for sale on Artrepreneur, you must be the copyright holder, an authorized agent, or an assignee with the legal right to sell the work. If you are acting as an agent or representative, Artrepreneur may request proof of your authority, which could include identity verification, proof of ownership, or evidence of your legal right to sell the artwork on behalf of the creator. Artrepreneur retains full discretion to determine what constitutes sufficient proof of authority.

By following these guidelines, sellers can ensure their listings remain compliant and maintain the trust of buyers on the platform. For further clarification, please refer to Artrepreneur’s Policies and Guidelines or contact our support team.
