How to Sell Your Art on Artrepreneur

Artrepreneur is a global digital marketplace and vibrant community designed exclusively to support and empower artists throughout their careers. As a Public Benefit Corporation, Artrepreneur is dedicated to promoting artist success, operating transparently, and positively impacting the artistic community. Compared to other platforms, Artrepreneur offers unparalleled support, a wide range of selling opportunities, and a strong sense of community, ensuring artists can effectively showcase their talent and thrive professionally.

1. Selling Originals on Artrepreneur

Originals Store

The Originals Store is a curated online marketplace of high-quality artworks from Artrepreneur's member artists. Unlike traditional art marketplaces where the platform handles transactions and takes commissions, Artrepreneur takes a different approach that puts artists first. We believe artists should receive the full value of their creative work, so we've designed a system that maximizes your earnings while increasing your artwork's visibility.

The store brings artists and potential buyers together while keeping Artrepreneur entirely outside the sales process. Artists provide all aspects of the listing—images, descriptions, pricing—along with a link to where the transaction takes place, such as their personal website. Artrepreneur doesn't participate in creating listings, processing transactions, handling shipping, or managing customer communications. This complete separation ensures artists maintain full control and keep 100% of their sales revenue with no commissions or fees.

To ensure the store attracts buyers and creates a positive browsing experience, Artrepreneur has a curatorial review process for all submissions. Our curators evaluate works for quality, clarity, accurate representation, and suitable resolution, which builds buyer trust and enhances the perceived value of artworks. We also maintain a balanced and diverse collection, meaning works may be declined if they are overly similar to existing selections or if too many pieces from a single artist are submitted. To apply, simply click the "Sell Originals Direct" button on your artwork's page.

Showrooms

If an artist’s artwork isn’t selected for the Originals Store, Artrepreneur provides an alternative through personal Showrooms, available exclusively to Pro members. A Showroom serves as a dedicated, branded personal gallery allowing artists to showcase all their work without the competitive environment of a general store. Artists retain full control over pricing, presentation, and sales transactions. Additionally, Showrooms are prominently featured in Artrepreneur’s directory, enhancing visibility. Importantly, no commissions are charged in Showrooms, consistent with the Originals Store model.

2. Commercial Ready Program

The Commercial Ready (CR) Program presents artists with an exceptional opportunity to have their artwork showcased and installed in prominent commercial environments, connecting them with prestigious clients across sectors such as hospitality, real estate, retail, financial services, media, and architectural design. This curated collection, carefully selected by Artrepreneur, serves as the exclusive resource for ATP.art, Artrepreneur’s dedicated commercial art division. ATP.art actively promotes these selected artworks, aligning them with specific client needs and facilitating placements in commercial projects, enhancing artists' exposure and professional reputation.

With a strong track record of success, ATP.art has facilitated over 1,000 artwork placements in the past year alone, including high-profile projects such as commissioned murals for luxury retail outlets like Neiman Marcus and notable public artworks in prominent locations like Hudson Yards in New York City. Artists participating in the CR Program benefit from comprehensive support, as ATP.art manages all aspects of the sales process—from initial client presentations and negotiations to printing, shipping, and installation—allowing artists to concentrate solely on their creative practice.

Artists who participate in the CR Program should understand that, unlike the Originals Store, this program operates with a commission-based model. These commissions reflect the extensive effort, resources, and expert services provided by ATP.art in managing commercial placements. Commissions are structured transparently, either negotiated individually per project or standardized for certain types of offerings, including specialized commissions such as murals and bespoke installations.

To join the Commercial Ready Program, artists can submit their work through Artrepreneur’s Open Call system, regularly updated on the platform’s Open Call page (https://artrepreneur.com/search/opencalls). Entry fees typically range from $6 to $12 per submission. However, artists who become Pro members, at a subscription of $12 per month, can enter unlimited Open Calls without any additional fees, significantly enhancing their opportunities for selection and participation in this prestigious program.

3. The Readymade Store

The Readymade Store bridges a gap in the commercial art marketplace by serving smaller businesses that need quality artwork without full consultancy services. Restaurants, retailers, professional offices, and similar establishments can access curated, professional-quality prints specifically selected for commercial environments, simplifying their art acquisition process.

Unlike The Originals Store, where artists handle their own sales, the Readymade Store operates on a different model. Artrepreneur manages every aspect from curation and presentation to printing, sales, and shipping. This comprehensive approach means artists receive 10% of the retail sale price for each print sold, with prices varying based on size. All artwork must be available at high resolution to ensure quality reproduction at larger sizes.

To maintain a balanced and appealing collection, Artrepreneur selects works either from the existing pool of commercially approved artwork or through dedicated Open Calls. These Open Calls provide focused opportunities for artists to submit work specifically for the Readymade Store, increasing their chances of inclusion in this curated marketplace.

For artists, the Readymade Store offers valuable access to commercial markets typically difficult to reach independently. Featured artists gain visibility with business decision-makers responsible for outfitting professional spaces, creating opportunities beyond traditional consumer sales channels. Rather than competing on oversaturated platforms with countless other works, artists benefit from placement in a targeted marketplace designed specifically for business buyers.
